Leno Bags vs PP Woven Bags: Which Should You Pack In?

Leno bags are woven in an open, cross-locked mesh that lets air pass right through the sack. That airflow is the whole point: onions, potatoes, garlic, ginger, coconuts and firewood all respire after harvest, and trapped moisture is what turns a stack of onions into a stack of rot.

PP woven bags are a closed fabric. They protect against dust, moisture ingress and spillage, which is exactly what you want for sugar, cement, grain, fertiliser, chemicals, feed and flour.

The practical rule: if the contents are alive and breathing, use leno. If the contents must be kept dry and contained, use PP woven — laminated if it will be stored outdoors or handled in monsoon.

Load ratings differ too. Leno is typically supplied for 5–50 kg produce packs, while PP woven runs from 5 kg retail packs up to 50 kg cement and sugar sacks, with FIBC jumbo bags beyond that. Mixed operations often buy both from one manufacturer to keep print artwork, lead time and freight consolidated.
